The final component to be decided was the vocalist. While many all-female bands adopted anime-like or idol-style singing voices, Miho and the others sought a more powerful and soulful voice. They selected Asami, who had absolutely no prior career in heavy metal and had been working as a backing vocalist for VAMPS and UVERworld. With a background in R&B and soul music, Asami's voice combined a rich mid-to-low range with a piercing high register, giving LOVEBITES' sound a unique sense of persuasion.

The band's name originates from Halestorm's song "Love Bites (So Do I)," which Asami sang during her audition.
