Our approach to privacy

METAL BOOST is an archive for listening back to heavy metal and hard rock albums. Reading it never requires an account or any personal details from you. Publishing information that directly identifies an individual as site content is not one of our purposes either.

Analytics

No third-party analytics tag and no ad-serving tag is placed on any page of this site. The only requests that leave your browser for an outside host are the embedded players and the web fonts described below.

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may however record access logs, including IP address and user agent, in order to count traffic and to protect the site from abuse. That data is handled under their own policy.

Cookies and browser storage

Cookies and browser local storage are used for one purpose only: carrying your display settings over to your next visit. Both are first-party, set by this site, and neither is used for advertising or for tracking what you read.

What is stored is the videos you marked as PICK UP in the VIDEOS section of the home page (metalBoostPickupVideosV1 and friends) and the description text size in NEW & UPCOMING CDs (metalBoost.releaseDescFontScale.v1). You can clear both from your browser settings at any time, and clearing them breaks nothing.

Embedded services and outward links

Album pages embed the Spotify and YouTube players, and the site is typeset with Google Fonts. Loading these sends connection information such as your IP address to those companies, and they may set cookies of their own.

We also link out to shops such as Amazon, to venue maps, and to artists' official sites. Information collected by the services you reach through those links is governed by each of those services' own terms and privacy policy.
