Knockin' at Heaven's Gate - Live in Tokyo 2023 documents 11 March 2023 at EX Theater Roppongi in Tokyo. That show was the first of the two comeback nights billed as WE ARE THE RESURRECTION, and the first with fami on bass, who had joined with the fourth album Judgement Day in February 2023. It was the band's first appearance in front of an audience since Osaka on 2 April 2021. Four songs were played live for the first time. "The Awakening", the instrumental that opens Awakening from Abyss, had been used as walk-on music before but had never been played by the band; this was the night. So were the title track of the new album, "Judgement Day", along with "Stand And Deliver (Shoot 'em Down)" and "Nameless Warrior" from the best-of. The title means knocking at the gate of paradise, and the cover shows a wolf standing before a heavy gate. The band put it this way: it was the fans who brought them back from a place with no light onto a bright stage, and it was because those fans kept knocking that LOVEBITES could step through the gate again. They said the roar they heard after three years lifted the performance past anything they had done, and that exchange between the stage and the room is what this record is really about.
