『Dreamhunter』は、印象的なコーラスと端正なギター・ワークで、TREATが北欧メロディック・ハードの魅力を濃く示した第三作だ。きらびやかなキーボードを全面に配した、AOR色の強い作風が特徴である。この作品からドラマーにジェイミー・ボリエルが加わり、以降のバンドを支える存在となった。本作は、スウェーデンのAORの一つの頂点として、ファンから根強い支持を集めている。叙情的なメロディと、豊かなヴォーカル・ハーモニーが魅力だ。 “World of Promises”“Sole Survivor”“Dancing on the Edge”といった、多彩な楽曲が並ぶ。シングルとなった“World of Promises”は、MTVの番組でも取り上げられ、のちにスウェーデンのIN FLAMESが2000年のアルバム『Clayman』でカバーしたことでも知られる。本作を携え、バンドは1988年のMonsters of Rockツアーへの参加も果たした。彼らの初期を代表する、完成度の高い一枚である。きらびやかなキーボードが前面に出つつも、ギターの手応えも十分に備わった、バランスの取れた作品でもある。

Dreamhunter is Treat's third album, on which they richly showed the appeal of Nordic melodic hard rock, with impressive choruses and neat guitar work. It is marked by a strongly AOR-flavored style, placing glittering keyboards at the fore. From this album, drummer Jamie Borger joined and became a mainstay of the band thereafter. This record enjoys enduring support from fans as one of the peaks of Swedish AOR, with its lyrical melodies and rich vocal harmonies. Varied songs like "World of Promises," "Sole Survivor" and "Dancing on the Edge" line up. The single "World of Promises" was featured on MTV, and is also known for later being covered by Sweden's In Flames on their 2000 album Clayman. Behind this record, the band also joined the 1988 Monsters of Rock Tour. An accomplished record representative of their early years. It is also a balanced work, with glittering keyboards to the fore yet plenty of guitar muscle.
