『Good Acoustics』は、FIREHOUSEの代表的なメロディをアコースティック編成で取り出し、曲そのものの強さを見せる作品だ。歪んだギターを引いたことで、C.J. Snareの歌とコーラスの温かさがより前に出ている。バンドの高いソングライティング能力を、改めて証明した一枚である。 “Love Of A Lifetime”“When I Look Into Your Eyes”“Don't Treat Me Bad”といった代表曲では、アコースティックならではの親密な表情が加わっている。イーグルスなどで知られる“Seven Bridges Road”のカヴァーも収録されている。“You Are My Religion”“Here for You”のような楽曲にも、バンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。本作は当時ブームとなっていたアコースティック・アルバムの流れの中で制作されており、“Love Don't Care”“No One At All”のような楽曲にもバンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。楽曲そのものの強度が電気的な装飾を排した編成でも全く色褪せないことを証明した、バンドのソングライティングの確かさを静かに示す一枚だ。派手な音圧ではなく、演奏の親密さで聴かせる構成が心地よい。バンドのポップな感覚とメロディを、改めて味わえる一枚である。

Good Acoustics is a work that takes out FIREHOUSE’s representative melodies in an acoustic lineup, showing the strength of the songs themselves. By pulling back the distorted guitar, the warmth of C.J. Snare’s singing and the choruses comes more to the front. It is a record that once again proved the band’s high songwriting ability. On representative songs like “Love Of A Lifetime,” “When I Look Into Your Eyes” and “Don't Treat Me Bad,” an intimacy unique to acoustic is added. A cover of “Seven Bridges Road,” known from the Eagles and others, is also included. Songs like “You Are My Religion” and “Here for You” breathe the band’s full playing too. The construction that lets you hear through the intimacy of the playing rather than flashy sound pressure is pleasant. It is a record on which the band’s pop sense and melody can once again be savored.
