『3』は、FIREHOUSEが持つ骨太なハード・ロック感と、C.J.スネアの伸びやかなヴォーカルを手堅く磨き上げた作品だ。ギターはブルースを基調にしながら、曲ごとに必要な熱量を加えている。3作目にして、バンドがより渋みのある方向へと深化した一枚である。 “Love Is a Dangerous Thing”“I Live My Life for You”“Here for You”といった楽曲では、バラードにもバンドらしい素直な力強さがある。とりわけ“I Live My Life for You”は、アジアを中心に大きな人気を博した名バラードだ。“What's Wrong”“Temptation”のような楽曲にも、バンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。1995年に発表された本作はそれまでの華やかさにより成熟したブルージーな味わいを加えており、“Get a Life”“Two Sides”のような楽曲にもバンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。グランジ全盛の時代にあってもFIREHOUSEは持ち前のメロディック・ハードを貫いており、特にバラードにおけるC.J.スネアの歌唱は円熟味を増している。派手な方向転換ではなく、持ち味を丁寧に深めている。円熟の兆しを見せた、味わい深い一枚である。

3 is a work on which FIREHOUSE steadily polished their solid hard-rock feel and C.J. Snare’s soaring vocals. The guitar, based in the blues, adds the necessary intensity to each song. On the third album, it is a record on which the band deepened toward a more mellow direction. On “Love Is a Dangerous Thing,” “I Live My Life for You” and “Here for You,” even the ballads have a characteristically band-like honest strength. In particular, “I Live My Life for You” is a fine ballad that gained great popularity centered on Asia. Songs like “What's Wrong” and “Temptation” breathe the band’s full playing too. Rather than a flashy change of direction, they carefully deepened their character. It is a flavorful record that showed signs of maturity.
