In Our Wake

ATREYUの『In Our Wake』は、鋭いリフとブレイクダウンを残しつつ、サビの強さを前面に出した作品だ。ブランダン・サラーのクリーンな歌とアレックス・ヴァルカッツァスの荒々しい声が交差し、重さと親しみやすさを同時に作る。 タイトル曲や“The Time Is Now”では、メタルコアの攻撃性を保ちながら、ライブで一緒に歌えるような開放感がある。複雑な仕掛けよりも、曲が持つ推進力と感情の直線性を重視した一枚。バンドの両面を無理なく結び付けた、力強い現代型ヘヴィ・ロック作品だ。 ここで大切なのは、目立つリフやサビだけでなく、音の重さ、リズムの呼吸、歌の表情が曲順の中でどう変化するかである。各パートは単独で主張するためではなく、次のメロディや感情の高まりを強く聞かせるために置かれている。 音量を上げれば低域の圧力や細かなアタックが見え、繰り返し聴けばアレンジの余白とフレーズの受け渡しが浮かび上がる。作品全体を通して聴くことで、単曲では見えにくい緊張と解放の流れもはっきり感じられる。 こうした細部が、楽曲ごとの個性を保ちながら一枚のまとまりへ結び付けている。強さだけでなく、旋律と音色の陰影まで味わえることが、このアルバムを長く聴き返したくなる理由である。

In Our Wake retains Atreyu’s sharp riffs and breakdowns while putting the force of the choruses in clear view. Brandon Saller’s clean delivery and Alex Varkatzas’ rougher voice cross paths to create both weight and accessibility. The title track and “The Time Is Now” keep metalcore aggression but also carry an open, live-ready sense of release. Rather than leaning on elaborate devices, the album values forward motion and direct emotional impact. It is a strong modern heavy-rock record that joins the band’s two sides without strain. This expanded liner entry keeps the existing album-specific perspective, then places it within the full listening experience: the way texture, dynamics and sequencing make each section lead into the next.
