『Manifest』は、AMARANTHEの最大の武器である三種類のヴォーカルを、より大胆な電子音とメタルの推進力へ結び付けた第6作だ。2020年10月にニュークリア・ブラストから発表された。録音はコロナ禍の制約下、2020年春にデンマークのハンセン・スタジオで行われ、この年と翌年はライヴが一切できないという苦境のなかにあった。エリーズ・リードの透明な歌、ニルス・モーリンの力強い声、ヘンリク・イングルンドのスクリームが、曲ごとに異なる視点を生んでいる。イングルンドが参加した最後の作品でもある。 ポップなメロディ、重いギター、プログラミングのきらめきが一体となり、サビは極めてキャッチーだ。バトル・ビーストのノーラ・ロウヒモを迎えた“Strong”をはじめ、“Crystalline”“BOOM!1”、ジェフ・ルーミスが弾く“Do or Die”にも豪華なゲストが並ぶ。先行シングルとなった“Viral”や“Archangel”の切れ味も鋭い。それでいて攻撃性も失わず、モダン・メタルとダンス・ポップの境界を自分たちの言葉で越えていく。ライヴができない時期に作られたとは思えない、外へ大きく開いた充実の一枚である。

Manifest is the sixth album, tying Amaranthe's greatest weapon — three kinds of vocals — to bolder electronics and metal drive. Released on Nuclear Blast in October 2020. Recording took place under pandemic restrictions in spring 2020 at Hansen Studios in Denmark, in the hardship of a year and a next with no live shows at all. Elize Ryd's transparent singing, Nils Molin's powerful voice and Henrik Englund's screams generate a different viewpoint in each song. It's also the last album with Englund. Pop melody, heavy guitar and the shimmer of programming become one, and the choruses are extremely catchy. Lavish guests line up: Battle Beast's Noora Louhimo on “Strong,” plus “Crystalline,” “BOOM!1,” and “Do or Die” with Jeff Loomis playing. The advance singles “Viral” and “Archangel” cut sharply too. Even so it doesn't lose its aggression, crossing the border between modern metal and dance pop in its own language. A satisfying record that opens outward — you'd never guess it was made when they couldn't play live.
