『Condition Hüman』は、QUEENSRŸCHEが重いリフ、緊張感あるリズム、陰影の濃いメロディを組み合わせ、プログレッシヴ・メタルとしての鋭さを前へ出した第13作だ。トッド・ラ・トーレ(ヴォーカル)、マイケル・ウィルトンとパーカー・ランドグレン(ギター)、エディ・ジャクソン(ベース)、スコット・ロッケンフィールド(ドラム)という編成で制作された。曲は複雑な展開を持ちながらも、歌のラインが常に道筋を示している。 “Arrow of Time”“Guardian”では、硬質なギターと広がりのある構成が対照を作り、攻撃的な場面にも空間的な奥行きがある。知性と感情を切り離さずに聴かせる点がこのバンドらしさであり、本作でもその特性が濃く表れている。再出発作の勢いを受け継ぎ、より緻密で完成度の高い内容へと踏み込んだ一枚だ。“Hellfire”“Bulletproof”のような楽曲では、鋭いリフと劇的な展開が緊張感を保つ。プロデューサーにゼウスを迎え、硬質でありながら奥行きのある音像を作り上げている。再出発作を上回る完成度が、批評家からも高く評価された。新体制のQUEENSRŸCHEが確かな充実期に入ったことを示す、力強い作品である。

Condition Hüman is the thirteenth album, on which Queensrÿche combined heavy riffs, tense rhythm and shadowed melody to push forward the sharpness of progressive metal. It was made with Todd La Torre (vocals), Michael Wilton and Parker Lundgren (guitar), Eddie Jackson (bass) and Scott Rockenfield (drums). The songs have complex development, yet the vocal line always shows the path. On "Arrow of Time" and "Guardian," hard guitar and expansive construction create contrast, and even aggressive passages have spatial depth. Delivering intelligence and emotion without separating them is characteristic of this band, and that trait strongly appears here too. Inheriting the momentum of the comeback album, a record that stepped into more meticulous, accomplished content. A powerful work that shows the new-lineup Queensrÿche entering a solid period of fullness.
