『Dynasty』は、KISSが持つ派手なロックンロールの骨格を保ちながら、ディスコ、ポップ、メロウな感触まで大胆に取り込んだ作品だ。大合唱を誘うフック、太いベースとビート、覚えやすいギター・フレーズというバンドの基本は変わらない。しかし本作では、その定番を一つの音色に閉じ込めず、曲ごとに異なる踊れる手触りと艶のある空気へ広げている。変化を恐れない姿勢そのものが、アルバムの魅力になっている。 “I Was Made for Lovin’ You”の高揚感は象徴的だが、“Sure Know Something”の陰影、“2000 Man”のギターの躍動、“Dirty Livin’”のグルーヴもまた重要である。四人それぞれの個性が同じ型に収まり過ぎず、曲ごとに違う角度からKISSらしさを見せるため、作品全体にはカラフルな起伏がある。単に流行へ寄せた異色作として片付けるより、巨大な会場で聴き手を楽しませるための仕掛けを、より広い音楽語彙で試した一枚として捉えたい。キャッチーさと冒険心が共存する、後期70年代の重要作である。強いメロディを中心に据えたまま、ダンスフロアの熱気とロックの重みを往復することで、KISSのエンターテインメント性を新しい角度から照らし出した。

Dynasty keeps the central pleasures of Kiss intact—big hooks, solid rhythm, memorable guitar figures and a taste for theatrical release—while letting disco, pop and smoother textures enter the picture. Rather than force every song into a single hard-rock template, the album changes its lighting from track to track. That willingness to experiment is not separate from Kiss’s identity; it becomes part of the record’s entertainment value, expanding the range of emotions and physical movement the band can invite from a listener. “I Was Made for Lovin’ You” is the obvious anthem, but “Sure Know Something” adds a darker glow, “2000 Man” lets the guitar energy jump forward, and “Dirty Livin’” leans into a loose, danceable groove. The record’s colorful movement comes from allowing different personalities and approaches to coexist rather than smoothing them into uniformity. It is more useful to hear Dynasty not as a simple detour toward fashion, but as a band testing how far its crowd-pleasing instincts could travel.
