1000hp is the sixth album, concentrating Godsmack's heavy rock through thick riffs and a straight-ahead groove. Dave Fortman produced again, following the previous album. The title means "1,000 horsepower," and as the name suggests, powerful, drive-filled songs line up. Even after a long career, the band's firm sound and energy have not faded in the slightest. The title track "1000hp" is a racing song about the band's own journey, its powerful riff and chorus standing out. "Something Different" reaches a wide audience with its catchy melody, and "Generation Day" and "What's Next" combine aggression with hooks. It debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200 and topped the Hard Rock chart. A record that sounds the sturdy rock and roll at the band's roots with a modern impact.
