Vain Glory Opera is a power-metal work on which EDGUY assembled speedy riffs, soaring high tones and sing-along choruses. The songs are full of youthful momentum, yet the making of the melodies already has a firm personality. Leaping greatly from the debut, it is a breakthrough that made the band’s name widely known. On the title track “Vain Glory Opera” and “Out of Control” and “Until We Rise Again,” the elation of driving songs and the thickness of dramatic mid-tempo songs support the album. Songs like “Scarlet Rose” and “Fairytale” breathe the band’s full melodic sense too. Lavish guests such as Blind Guardian’s Hansi Kürsch and Stratovarius’s Timo Tolkki also take part. It is a full record fitting for savoring early EDGUY’s clear appeal.
