Indestructible

『Indestructible』は、DISTURBEDがギタリストのダン・ドネガンの自主プロデュースで制作した第4作だ。逆境を突き破るような力強い主題を掲げ、軍靴のようなリズムと強靭なコーラスで、モダン・メタルの威容を一段と押し出している。ドレイマンの歌はより堂々とし、硬質なリフとタイトなリズムが全編を支配する。ジョン・モイヤーが正式メンバーとして初めてフル参加した作品でもある。 表題曲“Indestructible”は不屈の意志を掲げるアンセムで、“Inside the Fire”は強烈なリフと重いテーマで代表曲となった。“Perfect Insanity”“Deceiver”では攻撃性が際立ち、“The Night”のような叙情的な楽曲も配されている。自主プロデュースによって、バンドは自らの音像をより厳密に管理できるようになった。“Perfect Insanity”は初期のデモを再構築した楽曲で、“Enough”“Criminal”では硬質なグルーヴが際立つ。逆境を撥ね返すという主題が、力強い演奏とサウンドの両面から一貫して表現されている。米ビルボード200で初登場1位を獲得し、4作連続の首位を達成した。力強さと一貫性を両立させ、バンドの充実期を象徴する一枚である。

Indestructible is the fourth album, self-produced by guitarist Dan Donegan. Holding up a powerful theme of breaking through adversity, it further pushes the grandeur of modern metal with jackboot rhythms and robust choruses. Draiman's singing is more commanding, and firm riffs and tight rhythms dominate throughout. It is also the first album on which John Moyer participated fully as an official member. The title track "Indestructible" is an anthem raising an unbreakable will, and "Inside the Fire" became a signature song with its intense riff and heavy theme. On "Perfect Insanity" and "Deceiver," aggression stands out, and lyrical songs like "The Night" are placed too. It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, its fourth consecutive chart-topper. Balancing power and consistency, it is a record symbolizing the band's peak period.
