『…in the dark』は、BLINDMANが、あの哀愁あるメロディと、叙情的なハード・ロックとを、極めて丁寧に描いた、充実のミニ・アルバムだ。フルアルバムの合間に発表された本作は、その限られた曲数の中に、バンドの魅力を、ぎゅっと凝縮している。伸びやかで力強いヴォーカルと、中村達也の流麗なギターとが、まるで夜のように、静かで美しい曲調へと、確かな温度を与えていく。より内省的で、繊細な一枚である。 派手で大仰な展開よりも、あくまで、美しいメロディが、聴き手の心に残す、その豊かな余韻を、何よりも大切にした作りが、大きな魅力となっている一枚だ。ヨーロピアンなメロディック・ハード・ロックの様式を踏まえつつも、日本のバンドならではの、繊細な歌心が、色濃く表れている。中村達也の、叙情的なギターが、その静かな世界観を、力強く支えている。 限られた曲数の中でも、そのバンドの、繊細で確かな歌心が、実によく伝わってくる、内容の濃い一枚だ。ミニ・アルバムという形態ながらも、そのクオリティは、フルアルバムに、少しも引けを取らない。日本のメロディアス・ハードの、その繊細な魅力を、鮮やかに示す、聴き応えのある一枚と言える。バンドの叙情性が光る一枚だ。

…in the dark is a fulfilling mini-album on which Blindman drew sorrowful melody and lyrical hard rock extremely carefully. Released between full albums, it condenses the band’s appeal tightly into its limited number of songs. Soaring, powerful vocals and Tatsuya Nakamura’s fluid guitar give a sure warmth to quiet, beautiful, night-like songs. A more introspective, delicate record. A record whose great appeal is a making that valued above all the rich afterglow beautiful melody leaves in the listener’s heart, rather than flashy, grandiose development. While following the European melodic-hard-rock style, a delicate songcraft particular to a Japanese band strongly appears. Tatsuya Nakamura’s lyrical guitar powerfully supports that quiet world. A dense record on which, even within its limited number of songs, the band’s delicate, sure songcraft truly comes across well. Though in mini-album form, its quality by no means falls short of a full album. An engaging record vividly showing the delicate appeal of Japanese melodious hard rock — a record where the band’s lyricism shines.
