セルフタイトルの『BLINDMAN』は、緻密で流麗なギター・フレーズと、叙情的で美しいメロディとを重ね合わせた、日本のメロディック・ハード・ロックの充実作だ。バンド名を冠した本作は、その音楽性の、一つの到達点を示す、自信作となっている。ヴォーカルは、あくまで伸びやかで、楽曲は、決して、その速さだけでなく、豊かな情感の起伏をこそ、何よりも大切にしている。中村達也の、卓越したギター・ワークが光る一枚である。 冒頭“The Way to the Hill”の力強い推進力、そして“Prison of My Mind”のドラマ性、さらに“Another Tomorrow”のような曲まで、収録曲は、いずれも聴き応えがある。疾走する“Ready to Fight”、そして“The Sun Will Shine”のような曲も、作品の充実を伝えている。中村達也の、流麗で叙情的なギターが、全編で力強く冴え渡っている。 テクニカルで卓越した演奏は、確かに、強い存在感を持っているが、それは、常に、楽曲の、あの美しい流れを、しっかりと支える位置に置かれている一枚だ。繊細で丁寧な構築と、力強いバンド感とが、極めて高い次元で共存している。バンド名を冠するに、実にふさわしい、力強く聴き応えのある代表作と言える。バンドの充実が光る一枚だ。

The self-titled BLINDMAN is a fulfilling Japanese melodic-hard-rock work layering precise, fluid guitar phrases and lyrical, beautiful melody. Bearing the band’s name, it is a confident work showing one arrival point of its musicality. The vocals are soaring, and the songs value above all not merely speed but the rich sway of emotion. From the powerful drive of the opener “The Way to the Hill” and the drama of “Prison of My Mind” to a cut like “Another Tomorrow,” every song is engaging, while the speeding “Ready to Fight” and a cut like “The Sun Will Shine” convey the work’s fullness. Tatsuya Nakamura’s fluid, lyrical guitar is powerfully in sharp form throughout.
