『People Like People Like People Like Us』は、BACKYARD BABIESがパンクの短距離走のような勢いと、スウェーデンらしいガレージ/スリーズ・ロックのざらつきを前面に出した第5作だ。2006年4月に発表され、プロデュースはヘラコプターズのニッケ・アンダーソンが担当した。ドレゲンがかつて在籍したバンドの盟友との、いわば再会である。歪んだギター、荒いコーラス、気取らないリズムが、曲を一気に前へ押し出していく。 細かな装飾よりも、リフの勢いとバンドが同じ部屋で鳴らす熱を優先する姿勢が痛快だ。アンダーソンは「一緒に演奏すること」を教えてくれた、とメンバーは語っている。“Dysfunctional Professional”は本国シングル・チャートで3位に届き、“The Mess Age (How Could I Be So Wrong)”もヒットした。冒頭の表題曲から“Cockblocker Blues”を経て、締めの“Things to Do Before We Die”まで流れは淀みない。前年にはソーシャル・ディストーションと米欧を回っている。荒々しいのにフックを忘れない、直球のロックンロール・アルバムである。

People Like People Like People Like Us is the fifth album, pushing punk's sprint-like drive and a Swedish garage/sleaze-rock grit to the front. Released in April 2006 and produced by The Hellacopters' Nicke Andersson — a reunion of sorts with a comrade from the band Dregen once belonged to. Distorted guitar, rough choruses and unpretentious rhythm push the songs forward all at once. What's bracing is the stance of prioritizing riff momentum and the heat of a band playing in one room over fine ornamentation. The members have said Andersson taught them how to “play together.” “Dysfunctional Professional” reached No. 3 on the home singles chart, and “The Mess Age (How Could I Be So Wrong)” was a hit too. From the opening title track through “Cockblocker Blues” to the closing “Things to Do Before We Die,” the flow never stalls. The previous year they'd toured the US and Europe with Social Distortion. Rough yet never forgetting the hooks — a straight-ahead rock 'n' roll album.
