『All for You』は、ANNIHILATORが、鋭いギター・ワークと、大胆で意外な曲展開とを保ちながらも、そこに、より歌えるメロディックな側面をも、力強く前面へと押し出した第10作だ。新ヴォーカリストにデイヴ・パッデンを迎え、その表現力豊かな歌声が、バンドに、新たな魅力と安定感を加えている。リフは細かく、そして自在に動き、リズムは、聴き手の予測を巧みに外しつつも、楽曲は、最後には必ず、確かなフックへと着地していく。 冒頭の表題曲“All for You”のドラマ性、“Dr. Psycho”の攻撃性、そして“Demon Dance”“The Nightmare Factory”“Rage Absolute”のような曲まで、攻撃的なスラッシュ、哀感のあるメロディ、そしてテクニカルな演奏とが、一つのアルバムの中に、極めて自然に収まっている。 ジェフ・ウォーターズの、幅広い音楽性を存分に生かし、ANNIHILATORの持つ、多面的な魅力を、実に明快に伝えている点が本作の魅力だ。デイヴ・パッデンとの、新たな体制が、見事に軌道に乗ったことを示している。技巧、攻撃性、そしてメロディを、高い次元で両立させた、充実したモダン・スラッシュ作品と言える。バンドの新章を告げる一枚だ。

All for You is the tenth album on which Annihilator, while keeping sharp guitar work and bold, surprising song developments, also powerfully foregrounds a more singable, melodic side. Welcoming the new vocalist Dave Padden, his expressive voice adds new appeal and steadiness to the band. The riffs move finely and freely, and the rhythm deftly evades the listener’s expectations, yet the songs always finally land on a sure hook. From the drama of the opening title track “All for You” and the aggression of “Dr. Psycho” to cuts like “Demon Dance,” “The Nightmare Factory” and “Rage Absolute,” aggressive thrash, sorrowful melody and technical playing fit extremely naturally within one album. Its appeal is fully using Jeff Waters’s broad musicality and clearly conveying Annihilator’s multifaceted appeal. It shows that the new lineup with Dave Padden was splendidly on track. Uniting technique, aggression and melody at a high level, it is a fulfilling modern-thrash work — a record announcing a new chapter for the band.
