『District Zero』は、ALDIOUSが持つ流麗なツイン・ギター、きらびやかなメロディ、一直線に駆け抜けるリズムを、高い密度で結び付けた3作目だ。速さと技巧を前面に出しながらも、各曲はサビの印象を大切にしており、演奏の派手さが歌心を覆い隠すことはない。 “Scrash”“Escape”のように疾走感を突き詰めた曲、“夜桜”“菊花”のように日本的な旋律美を湛えた曲、“Raise Your Fist”のようにライブ映えするアンセムが並び、収録曲の振れ幅が大きい。“Misty Moon”“Desolate Love”では、叙情的なメロディとドラマティックな展開が印象を深める。ハードに刻むリフ、リード・ギターの華やかなフレーズ、凛としたヴォーカルが一体となる。 正統派メタルの高揚感を鮮やかに描きながら、曲ごとに異なる表情を用意した構成が巧みだ。バンドの勢いとメロディックな魅力を同時に味わえる、ALDIOUSの充実期を映す一枚。疾走と叙情、攻撃性と華やかさが一枚の中で自在に切り替わり、聴き手を最後まで引き込む。3作目にして、バンドは自分たちの様式をより自覚的に磨き上げている。疾走と叙情、技巧と歌の均衡が、極めて高い水準でまとまっている。

District Zero joins Aldious’ fluent twin guitars, bright melodies and headlong rhythm in a particularly focused form on the band’s third album. It puts speed and technique up front, yet each song protects the impact of its chorus, so virtuosity never buries the songwriting. Songs that press the speed like “Scrash” and “Escape,” Japanese-flavored melodies such as “夜桜” and “菊花,” and the live-ready anthem “Raise Your Fist” give the record a wide swing, while “Misty Moon” and “Desolate Love” deepen the impression with lyrical melody and dramatic turns. Hard-chopped riffs, colorful lead-guitar phrases and clear vocals work as one. Delivering the lift of traditional metal while giving each song a distinct face, it is a strong entry from Aldious’ mature period, balancing speed and lyricism, technique and voice at a very high level.
