Objection Overruled

『Objection Overruled』は、ウド・ダークシュナイダーの復帰後、ACCEPTが鋼鉄のリフ、合唱的なフック、そして直進するリズムという、自らの核を改めて力強く提示した再結成作だ。ウルフ・ホフマンのギターは鋭く切り込み、ベースとドラムは余計な装飾をせず、重心を低く保っている。往年の黄金期の魅力が、力強く蘇った一枚である。 冒頭の表題曲“Objection Overruled”の攻撃性、“Protectors of Terror”の疾走、“Slaves to Metal”の高揚、そして“I Don't Wanna Be Like You”“Bulletproof”まで、収録曲は硬派な魅力に満ちている。ウドのざらついた声が、曲の輪郭へ独特の攻撃性と、確かな人間味を与えている。 流行へ迎合するのではなく、バンドが長年培ってきた重量感と即効性を丁寧に磨き直し、正統派メタルの揺るがない強さを再確認させる内容だ。単なる復古で終わらせず、硬いリズムと覚えやすいフックが結び付く、その高い精度が光る。“All or Nothing”“This One's for You”のような曲でも、鋼鉄のリフと合唱的フックが結び付いている。黄金期のACCEPTが完全復活したことを高らかに告げた、力強く充実した再結成作と言える。

Objection Overruled is a reunion record on which, after Udo Dirkschneider’s return, Accept again powerfully presents its core: steel riffs, choral hooks and a straight rhythm. Wolf Hoffmann’s guitar cuts sharply, and the bass and drums keep a low center without decoration. The appeal of the golden era is powerfully revived. From the aggression of the opening title track “Objection Overruled” and the speed of “Protectors of Terror” to the lift of “Slaves to Metal” and “I Don’t Wanna Be Like You” and “Bulletproof,” the songs are full of hard-edged appeal. Udo’s gritty voice gives the songs’ outline a particular aggression and sure humanity. Rather than conforming to trends, it carefully re-polishes the band’s long-cultivated weight and immediacy, reaffirming the unwavering strength of traditional metal. Not ending as mere revival, the high precision with which hard rhythm and memorable hooks join stands out. Loftily announcing the full revival of golden-era Accept, it is a powerful, fulfilling reunion record.
