Life Gets You Dirty is Michael Monroe's fourth solo album, released by SPV / Steamhammer in October 1999; the Japanese edition followed on 21 October.
Monroe plays most of it himself — vocals, all the guitars, piano, harmonica, saxophone and tambourine — with Jari Paulamäki on bass and Pete Lehtelä on drums. Mika Jussila mastered it in Finland.
The notable credit is Andy McCoy's: fourteen years after Hanoi Rocks broke up, the two names appear together again as writers. Track four revisits Hanoi Rocks' own "Self Destruction Blues". A performance of "I Send You Back" from a Finnish television programme survives on Monroe's official channel, which is where the playing of this period can still be seen.
