『Tunguska』は、1908年のツングースカ大爆発を想起させる題材を、TREATらしいメロディック・ハード・ロックの熱量へ変えた第8作。ロバート・アーントセンの歌、アンダース・ヴィクストロムのギター、分厚いコーラスが、曲にドラマティックな推進力を与える。 “Progenitors”“Always Have, Always Will”などは、タイトルの壮大さに負けない大きなサビと、きびきびしたリフを持つ。物語性があっても曲は難解にならず、メロディの快感を保つ。成熟したバンドが自分たちの強みをよく理解して作った、力強い一枚だ。 ここで大切なのは、目立つリフやサビだけでなく、音の重さ、リズムの呼吸、歌の表情が曲順の中でどう変化するかである。各パートは単独で主張するためではなく、次のメロディや感情の高まりを強く聞かせるために置かれている。 音量を上げれば低域の圧力や細かなアタックが見え、繰り返し聴けばアレンジの余白とフレーズの受け渡しが浮かび上がる。作品全体を通して聴くことで、単曲では見えにくい緊張と解放の流れもはっきり感じられる。 こうした細部が、楽曲ごとの個性を保ちながら一枚のまとまりへ結び付けている。強さだけでなく、旋律と音色の陰影まで味わえることが、このアルバムを長く聴き返したくなる理由である。

Tunguska turns the scale suggested by the 1908 Tunguska event into Treat’s own high-energy melodic hard rock. Robert Ernlund’s vocal, Anders Wikström’s guitar and thick backing choruses give the material dramatic momentum. “Progenitors” and “Always Have, Always Will” carry large refrains and crisp riffs equal to the grand title. Even with a narrative element, the songs never become difficult or lose their melodic pleasure. It is a powerful album from a mature band that understands its strengths very well. This expanded liner entry keeps the existing album-specific perspective, then places it within the full listening experience: the way texture, dynamics and sequencing make each section lead into the next. It is intended to preserve the record’s identity while giving its musical flow and emotional detail more room to register.
