『Realized Fantasies』は、TNTが鮮やかなギター・フレーズ、透明感あるキーボード、トニー・ハーネルの高音ヴォーカルを組み合わせた作品であり、ハーネルが在籍した第一期の締めくくりとなった一枚だ。ロニー・ル・テクロのギターは技巧的でありながら、曲を前へ進めるリフとメロディを常に意識しており、バンドとしての一体感が全編に息づいている。 “Downhill Racer”“Hard to Say Goodbye”“Lionheart”“Indian Summer”といった楽曲では、ポップなフックとハード・ロックの鋭さが交差し、軽快さと緊張感の両方が共存している。“Rain”のような叙情的な楽曲も、バンドのメロディ・センスの高さを示している。“Mother Warned Me”“Purple Mountain's Majesty”“Easy Street”“All You Need”といった楽曲でも、鮮やかなギターと伸びやかな歌が高い水準で結び付いている。この後ハーネルは一度バンドを離れることになるが、第一期TNTの充実がここには余さず刻まれている。90年代初頭の音楽的な変化の中にあっても、TNTは自らの洗練されたスタイルを堅持した。北欧メロディック・ロックの高度な演奏力を、親しみやすい歌へと落とし込んだ本作は、黄金期の掉尾を飾る充実した一枚である。

Realized Fantasies combines TNT’s vivid guitar phrasing, translucent keyboards and Tony Harnell’s high vocals, and became the close of the first period with Harnell in the band. Ronni Le Tekrø’s guitar is technical yet always mindful of the riffs and melody that push the songs forward, and a band unity breathes throughout. On “Downhill Racer,” “Hard to Say Goodbye,” “Lionheart” and “Indian Summer,” pop hooks and hard-rock sharpness intersect, and both lightness and tension coexist. A lyrical song like “Rain” also shows the band’s high melodic sense. Even amid the musical changes of the early 1990s, TNT held firmly to its own refined style. Rendering the advanced musicianship of Nordic melodic rock into accessible songs, it is an accomplished record that caps the golden era.
