Running on punk impulse, the songs hold both hard-rock weight and power-pop sweetness. Made after a few years of hiatus, it is also a record on which the band’s character vividly revived. On “Nexus Icon,” “Vanilla Radio,” “So Into You” and “Top of the World,” the playing is raw yet the hooks are skillfully made, and the songs stay in the ear on one listen.
