『Endless, Nameless』は、THE WILDHEARTSが持つ強いメロディ感を、ノイズ、加工された音、荒れたアレンジの中へと投げ込んだ作品だ。曲には口ずさめるフックがある一方で、音像は意図的に不安定で、聴き手の足場を揺らしてくる。インダストリアルやローファイの感覚を大胆に取り入れ、バンドは従来のイメージを自ら破壊しようとしている。 “Junkenstein”“Anthem”“Urge”“Now Is the Colour”といった楽曲では、混沌とした音の中に、鋭いソングライティングが確かに息づいている。“Nurse Maximum”“Why You Lie”のような楽曲にも、バンドの危険な創造性が表れている。“Pissjoy”“Soundog Babylon”“Thunderfuck”といった楽曲にも、破壊的なエネルギーが刻まれている。従来のメロディック・ロック路線から意図的に大きく逸脱し、その実験的な姿勢は当時のファンを大いに驚かせた、商業的な成功よりもバンドの創造的な衝動を優先した意欲作である。整ったロックから大きくはみ出すことで、本作はバンドの実験的な一面を極限まで押し進めている。賛否を呼ぶ挑戦的な内容ながら、ジンジャーの才能が別の角度から輝く、刺激的な一枚である。

Endless, Nameless is a work on which THE WILDHEARTS threw their strong melodic sense into noise, processed sound and rough arrangement. The songs have hummable hooks, yet the sound image is intentionally unstable, shaking the listener’s footing. Boldly taking in an industrial and lo-fi feel, the band tries to destroy its own established image. On “Junkenstein,” “Anthem,” “Urge” and “Now Is the Colour,” sharp songwriting firmly breathes within the chaotic sound. Songs like “Nurse Maximum” and “Why You Lie” show the band’s dangerous creativity too. By spilling greatly out of tidy rock, this record pushes the band’s experimental side to the extreme. Challenging content that drew mixed reactions, it is a stimulating record on which Ginger’s talent shines from a different angle.
