Infinite is a fulfilling golden-era work on which, around Timo Kotipelto’s clear voice, keyboards and guitar layer flamboyant, beautiful melody many times over. Not only the dashing songs but the long title track has a well-worked, grand drama breathing within. A refined production and clear, easy-to-follow song construction accurately convey the band’s outstanding playing technique to the listener. From the overwhelming speed and catchiness of the classic opener “Hunting High and Low” (distinct from the UFO song), the solemn “Millennium” and through to cuts like “Phoenix,” “A Million Light Years Away” and “Mother Gaia,” every song boasts high polish. Brisk speed and beautiful melody are beautifully united. Its value lies in concentrating the appeal of brisk power metal at extremely high polish. In particular, the catchiness of “Hunting High and Low” still boasts high popularity as one of the band’s signature songs. Packing the appeal of European power metal as clearly as possible, it is a fulfilling record representative of the golden era — highly rated by fans.
