『House of Gold & Bones – Part 2』は、2部構成のコンセプト作を締めくくる第5作だ。前編と同じくデヴィッド・ボトリルがプロデュースを手掛け、両作は同時に録音された。前編よりも暗く、重く、そして実験的な音像を志向し、物語のクライマックスへと突き進んでいく。ピアノ主体の“Red City”から始まり、多彩な楽曲が起伏に富んだ流れを作り出す。 先行シングル“Do Me a Favor”は前編の“A Rumor of Skin”を引用し、2作の繋がりを鮮やかに示す。“Sadist”“The Conflagration”のような楽曲では、テイラーの感情的な歌唱と緻密な構成が際立つ。終曲“The House of Gold & Bones”は、物語と音楽の両面で壮大な結末を迎える。“'82”“The Uncanny Valley”のような楽曲では、物語の核心へ迫る緊張感が高まる。バンドは前編で提示した主題を回収しながら、物語を感情的な頂点へと導いていく。NINE INCH NAILSやPINK FLOYDを思わせる陰影も感じられる本作は、米ビルボード200で9位を記録した。野心的な物語を完結させた、密度の高い一枚である。

House of Gold & Bones – Part 2 is the fifth album, concluding the two-part concept work. As with the first part, David Bottrill produced, and both were recorded simultaneously. Aiming for a darker, heavier and more experimental sound than the first part, it drives toward the story's climax. Beginning with the piano-led "Red City," varied songs create a flow rich in dynamics. The lead single "Do Me a Favor" quotes "A Rumor of Skin" from the first part, vividly showing the connection between the two records. On songs like "Sadist" and "The Conflagration," Taylor's emotional singing and intricate construction stand out. The closer "The House of Gold & Bones" reaches a grand conclusion in both story and music. With shadings recalling Nine Inch Nails and Pink Floyd, the album reached number nine on the US Billboard 200. A dense record that completed an ambitious story.
