『Fire From the Sky』は、SHADOWS FALLが鋭利なスラッシュ・リフ、ヘヴィなブレイク、荒々しいヴォーカルを使い、暗く攻撃的なメタルを描いた第7作だ。2012年5月にレイザー・アンド・タイから発表された。デビュー作を手がけたアダム・ドゥキェヴィッチが久々にプロデュースを担当し、録音もデビュー作と同じジング・スタジオで2011年後半に行われた。ミックスはブライアン・ヴァーチューが手がけている。原点に立ち返るような座組が、作品の質感にもはっきりと表れている。 速さのある曲でもリフは重量を失わず、リズム隊が地面を踏み抜くような感触を作る。メロディックなギター・リードが混じることで、楽曲はただ荒いだけではなく、陰影を持つ。2012年のマヤ暦終末説を背景にした混沌が歌詞の主題で、冒頭の“The Unknown”や表題曲、“Divide and Conquer”が作品を牽引する。ジェイソン・ビットナーのドラムは過去作以上に手数が多く、ジョナサン・ドネイスのリード・ギターも冴える。ビルボード200で38位を記録した。結果的にこれがバンド最後のスタジオ作となった、攻撃性と構築性を兼ね備えた力強い一枚だ。

Fire From the Sky is the seventh album, drawing dark, aggressive metal with sharp thrash riffs, heavy breaks and raw vocals. Released on Razor & Tie in May 2012. Adam Dutkiewicz, who handled the debut, produced for the first time since, and recording took place at Zing Studios — the same studio as the debut — in late 2011. Brian Virtue mixed. That back-to-the-source setup shows clearly in the record's texture. Even in fast songs the riffs never lose weight, and the rhythm section creates the feel of stamping through the ground. Melodic guitar leads mix in, so the material isn't merely rough but carries shadow. The chaos surrounding the 2012 Mayan-calendar apocalypse theory is the lyrical subject, and the opener “The Unknown,” the title track and “Divide and Conquer” lead the record. Jason Bittner's drumming is busier than on past albums, and Jonathan Donais's lead guitar shines. It reached No. 38 on the Billboard 200. This ended up being the band's final studio album — a powerful record combining aggression and construction.
