Show Me How to Live is a moving work on which the flagship D.C. Cooper dramatically returned to the band and Royal Hunt beautifully regained its dramatic keys and widely open vocal melody. On this record, on which the golden duo of Cooper and Andersen reunited after about fifteen years, André Andersen’s grand, gorgeous keyboards, melodic guitar and Cooper’s dramatic singing are powerfully rebound. While holding progressive, elaborate developments, at its center a powerful chorus that immediately lingers is always placed. From the powerful drive of the opener “One More Day” and the aggression of “Another Man Down” to the title track “Show Me How to Live,” every song is engaging, while cuts like “An Empty Shell” and “Angel’s Gone” convey the work’s fullness. The band’s native splendor and deep shadow beautifully coexist, and each song makes you feel one great story. A record that lets you again powerfully reaffirm the appeal of the classic, old Royal Hunt in a more mature form. Cooper’s return was a truly long-awaited event for fans.
