Dystopia Part II

本作『Dystopia Part II』は、前作『Dystopia』から続く、ディストピアの物語を、アンドレ・アンダーセンの、重層的で華麗な鍵盤と、クラシカルな構成とで、さらに深く掘り下げた、壮大な続編作だ。『華氏451度』に着想を得た、そのコンセプトの後編にあたり、物語は、いよいよ、その結末へと向かっていく。メロディック・メタルならではの、高揚感を、しっかりと保ちながらも、組曲的な壮大な展開、緊張感あふれるリフ、そして演劇的なヴォーカルを、丁寧に積み重ね、その世界観の密度を、さらに高めている。 冒頭“MIDWAY (Resumption)”から物語を再開し、力強い“Thorn in My Heart”、そして“The Key of Insanity”のドラマ性から、“Live Another Day”“The Purge”“One More Shot”のような曲まで、収録曲は、前編の物語を、力強く受け継ぎ、その結末へと、緊密につないでいく。D.C.クーパーの、ドラマティックな歌が、物語を、力強く牽引していく。 物語性と、演奏の、華やかで壮大なスケール感とを、同時に求めるリスナーに、見事に応えてくれる、堂々たる後編だ。前後編を通して聴くことで、その壮大なコンセプトの、全体像が、はっきりと見えてくる。ROYAL HUNTの、コンセプト作家としての、円熟した手腕が、改めて発揮された、聴き応えのある力作と言える。壮大な物語が、ついに完結する一枚だ。

Dystopia Part II is a grand sequel that digs more deeply into the dystopian story continuing from the previous Dystopia, with André Andersen’s layered, gorgeous keys and classical construction. As the latter half of the concept inspired by Fahrenheit 451, the story finally heads toward its ending. While firmly keeping the lift particular to melodic metal, it carefully stacks suite-like grand developments, tense riffs and theatrical vocals, further heightening its world’s density. Resuming the story from the opener “MIDWAY (Resumption),” from the powerful “Thorn in My Heart” and the drama of “The Key of Insanity” to cuts like “Live Another Day,” “The Purge” and “One More Shot,” the songs powerfully inherit the first half’s story and tightly connect to its ending. D.C. Cooper’s dramatic singing powerfully drives the story. A dignified latter half that splendidly answers listeners seeking both narrative and the gorgeous, grand scale of the playing. By listening through both halves, the grand concept’s whole picture comes clearly into view. An engaging, powerful work again displaying Royal Hunt’s mature skill as a concept author — a record on which the grand story finally concludes.
