Immortal Soul is a masterpiece on which the golden lineup of the classic Thundersteel reunites and Riot powerfully returns to the origin of dashing power metal. With Tony Moore on vocals and the rhythm section’s former members returning, the ferocious intensity of that legendary work is beautifully revived. The way Mark Reale’s sharp guitar and Moore’s overwhelming high vocal collide head-on again is stunning. From the powerful, declarative drive of the opener “Riot” and the dashing “Fall Before Me” to the dramatic “Sins of the Father,” every song recovers the radiance of old, while cuts like “Wings Are for Angels” and “Insanity” loftily announce the band’s full revival. A fan-awaited return to the origin of power metal. A record that can be called a sequel to the legendary Thundersteel, full of speed and stylistic beauty and boasting overwhelming polish, it splendidly met longtime fans’ expectations.
