『Into the Legend』は、RHAPSODY OF FIREがファンタジーの物語性、オーケストラ風の壮大さ、疾走するパワー・メタルを再び一体化させた第11作だ。ファビオ・リオーネのヴォーカル、ロベルト・デ・ミケーリのギター、アレックス・スタロポリのキーボード、アレックス・ホルツワースのドラムという編成で制作された。前作よりもシンフォニックで壮麗な作風へと回帰しているのが特徴だ。 “Distant Sky”やタイトル曲“Into the Legend”では、高速のギター、荘厳な合唱、劇的なメロディが一体となり、聴き手を伝説の世界へと誘う。長尺の構成でも印象的なサビがしっかり置かれ、大きな物語の中を迷わず進める。派手な装飾と正統派メタルの力が両立し、タイトル通り伝説の世界へと聴き手を誘う。“Valley of Shadows”“Realms of Light”のような楽曲では、荘厳なコーラスと疾走するリフが炸裂する。前作で試みた方向性から、再びシンフォニックな王道へと回帰した点も注目される。そして本作は、長年バンドの声を務めたファビオ・リオーネが参加した最後のスタジオ作となった。壮大なパワー・メタルの魅力を凝縮した、一つの時代の締めくくりである。

Into the Legend is the eleventh album, on which Rhapsody of Fire again united fantasy storytelling, orchestral grandeur and racing power metal. It was made with Fabio Lione on vocals, Roberto De Micheli on guitar, Alex Staropoli on keyboards and Alex Holzwarth on drums. It is characterized by a return to a more symphonic, magnificent style than the previous album. On "Distant Sky" and the title track "Into the Legend," high-speed guitar, solemn choirs and dramatic melody unite to lead the listener toward a legendary world. Even in long constructions, striking choruses are firmly placed, so one can advance through the grand story without getting lost. And it became the last studio album to feature Fabio Lione, who long served as the band's voice. Concentrating the appeal of grand power metal, it is the close of an era.
