『Trapped!』は、RAGEが鋭いギター・リフ、機動力のあるリズム、ピーヴィー・ワグナーの独特な歌を高密度でまとめた作品だ。速い曲でもメロディの線がはっきりと見え、単なる攻撃性ではなく、曲ごとの起伏とフックで聴かせる姿勢が徹底している。 “Shame On You”“Solitary Man”“Enough Is Enough”のように疾走感とキャッチーさを両立させた曲が並び、アルバムは終始強い推進力を保つ。ラヴクラフトに着想を得た“Beyond The Wall Of Sleep”のように、題材と音の緊張が響き合う曲も印象的だ。 重さ、スピード、歌心を同じ場所に置くことで、バンドの個性がより明確になっている。“Questions”“Not Forever”のような曲に見られる展開の妙も、RAGEの成熟を物語る。“Medicine”“Power And Greed”のような曲では、機動力のあるリズムと鋭いリフが噛み合い、疾走感の中にもしっかりとした構築性が感じられる。ピーヴィー・ワグナーの声は攻撃的でありながら常にメロディを牽引し、曲に人間的な熱を宿す。荒々しさと歌心を同時に成立させる、このころのRAGEならではのバランス感覚が全編を貫いている。1990年代初頭のバンドが持つ前進力と構築性を端的に示す、充実した一枚である。

Trapped! packs RAGE’s sharp guitar riffs, agile rhythm and Peavy Wagner’s distinctive vocals into a dense whole. Even in the fast songs the melodic line stays clearly visible, and the album consistently holds the listener through each song’s dynamics and hooks rather than aggression alone. Cuts that balance speed with catchiness — “Shame On You,” “Solitary Man” and “Enough Is Enough” — keep the record driving throughout, while the Lovecraft-inspired “Beyond The Wall Of Sleep” makes subject and sound resonate with tension. By placing weight, speed and songcraft in the same space, the band’s character comes through more clearly, and the deft development in songs like “Questions” and “Not Forever” speaks to RAGE’s growing maturity. It is a strong record that plainly shows the forward drive and construction of the band at the dawn of the 1990s.
