Execution Guaranteed

『Execution Guaranteed』は、速い刻みと緊迫したリズムを基盤に、RAGEがより大きな曲構成へ踏み込んだ作品だ。ピーヴィー・ワグナーの声とベースは前へ出て、二本のギターが切り替わるリフで緊張を作り出す。デビュー作の勢いを保ちながら、楽曲としての骨格が一段としっかりしてきたことが伝わる。 “Down by Law”“Streetwolf”のように直線的に疾走する曲がある一方、表題曲“Execution Guaranteed”や“Mental Decay”では、展開の中で重さと劇性を増していく。単純な速さだけでなく、緩急やリフの積み重ねで聴かせようとする意志が芽生えている。 まだ荒々しさは残るが、初期RAGEがスピード・メタルの枠内で表現の幅を広げようとしていた過程が、はっきりと刻まれている。“Before the Storm”“Deadly Error”に漂う緊迫感も印象的だ。“Grapes of Wrath”“When You're Dead”のような曲では、疾走の中にも荒々しい攻撃性がみなぎり、初期衝動の勢いをそのまま伝えている。ギターの刻みとリズムの推進力が、まだ粗削りながらも確かな一体感を生み出している。ジャーマン・メタルの速度感を保ちつつ、バンド独自の濃い表情を育てた重要な一枚である。

Execution Guaranteed finds RAGE stepping toward larger song structures on a foundation of fast picking and tense rhythm. Peavy Wagner’s voice and bass push to the front, and two guitars trade riffs to build tension. While it keeps the drive of the debut, the songwriting frame has clearly become firmer. Straight-ahead speeders such as “Down by Law” and “Streetwolf” sit beside the title track “Execution Guaranteed” and “Mental Decay,” which grow heavier and more dramatic as they develop. There is a budding will to hold the listener through dynamics and layered riffs rather than speed alone. Some rawness remains, but the record clearly documents early RAGE widening its expression within the speed-metal frame, with the tension of “Before the Storm” and “Deadly Error” leaving a strong impression — an important step in growing the band’s own dense character.
