本作『Digital Noise Alliance』は、トッド・ラ・トゥーレを擁する現体制のQUEENSRŸCHEが、鋭いギター、複雑になり過ぎない、程よくプログレッシヴな展開、そして社会的な緊張感とを、高い密度でまとめ上げた、現代的なプログレッシヴ・メタル作品だ。過去の偉大な名盤を、ただ模倣するのではなく、バンド固有の、知的なムードと、メタルとしての力強い推進力とを、あくまで現在の言葉で、力強く再構築している。 冒頭“In Extremis”の攻撃的な推進力、“Chapters”のドラマ性、そして“Behind the Walls”のような曲まで、収録曲は、メロディを決して失うことなく、硬質さを、さらに増している。“Nocturnal Light”“Lost in Sorrow”のような曲も、バンドの充実を伝えている。ラ・トゥーレの歌声と、マイケル・ウィルトンらの演奏との、確かな一体感が全編に満ちている。 セルフタイトル作以降の、再出発の路線を、さらに推し進め、その音楽性を、より深化させた一枚だ。ベテランとなってなお、その創作意欲と、鋭いメタルの感覚は、少しも衰えていない。メロディックな魅力と、現代的で重いサウンドとを、高い次元で両立させた、後期キャリアを代表する、力強く充実したプログレッシヴ・メタル作品と言える。バンドの健在ぶりを示す一枚だ。

Digital Noise Alliance is a modern progressive-metal work on which the current Queensrÿche, with Todd La Torre, pulls together at high density sharp guitar, moderately progressive developments that do not become overly complex, and social tension. Rather than merely imitating the great past masterpieces, it powerfully reconstructs the band’s own intelligent mood and the powerful drive of metal in present-day words. From the aggressive drive of the opener “In Extremis” and the drama of “Chapters” to a cut like “Behind the Walls,” the songs increase their hardness further without ever losing melody, while cuts like “Nocturnal Light” and “Lost in Sorrow” convey the band’s fullness. A sure unity of La Torre’s voice and the playing of Michael Wilton and others fills the whole. A record that pushes the restart direction since the self-titled album further and deepens its musicality. Even as veterans, their creative drive and sharp metal sense have not dimmed in the least. Uniting melodic appeal and a modern, heavy sound at a high level, it is a powerful, fulfilling progressive-metal work representative of the late career — a record showing the band’s vigor.
