Here and Now is a work on which NICKELBACK, using thick guitar, heavy beats and instantly memorable choruses, straightforwardly sounded arena-oriented hard rock. Chad Kroeger’s voice keeps a strong presence in both wild songs and ballads. It is a record that once again concentrated the band’s specialty. On “This Means War,” “When We Stand Together” and “Bottoms Up,” the making of each song is concise, but the placement of the riffs and melody is clear, reaching the listener directly. Songs like “Lullaby” and “Trying Not to Love You” breathe the band’s full playing too. The balance of hard rock numbers and heart-touching ballads is good. It well brings together the weight and mass appeal the band excels at. It is a full record boasting stable completion.
