2025年4月25日に発表された、MACHINE HEADの11作目。『ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN』で示した再加速を受け継ぎながら、本作は明確なコンセプトを掲げるより先に、バンドがいま鳴らすべき衝動と推進力を前面へ押し出す。全12曲、約42分という引き締まった尺のなかで、ロブ・フリンの切迫した歌と咆哮、重量級のリフ、鋭く噛み合うリズムが、立ち止まることを拒む感覚を一貫して作り出す。 「ATØMIC REVELATIØNS」「UNBØUND」「ØUTSIDER」は、グルーヴ・メタルの圧力と大きなフックを正面から結び、短い曲でもライヴで爆発する輪郭を持つ。「ØUTSIDER」が有害な関係を断つ人々へ向けたアンセムとして書かれたことは、作品全体に流れる痛みと解放の主題をよく示している。一方、「BLEEDING ME DRY」や「SHARDS ØF SHATTERED DREAMS」には、ただ速く重いだけではない陰影と余白があり、激烈な演奏の奥に喪失感や自己回復への視線を残す。 メランコリックなメロディと破壊的なリフ、シンガロングと威圧的な重さを対立させず、同じ曲の中で機能させるのがMACHINE HEADの強みである。本作はその持ち味を余分な脂肪なく研ぎ澄ました現在形の一撃だ。過去の栄光への回帰ではなく、11作目にしてなお前進する意志を、最短距離で聴き手へ叩き込む。

Released on April 25, 2025, Unatoned is MACHINE HEAD’s eleventh studio album. Carrying forward the renewed force of ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN, it favors immediate impact over an overarching concept: this is a record driven by the band’s present-tense need to move. Across twelve tracks and roughly forty-two minutes, Robb Flynn’s urgent singing and roar, heavyweight riffs, and tightly interlocked rhythms create an atmosphere that refuses to stand still. “ATØMIC REVELATIØNS,” “UNBØUND,” and “ØUTSIDER” put groove-metal pressure and large, live-ready hooks in the same frame. “ØUTSIDER,” written as an anthem for people cutting toxic relationships loose, also clarifies the larger emotional current: pain is acknowledged, then turned toward release. Elsewhere, “BLEEDING ME DRY” and “SHARDS ØF SHATTERED DREAMS” leave room for shadow and aftermath. Their heaviness is not just a matter of speed or impact; it carries loss, damage, and the effort to rebuild. MACHINE HEAD’s enduring strength is the ability to make melancholy melody, destructive riffing, sing-along force, and intimidating weight work together instead of canceling one another out.
