『Curious Goods』は、重厚なキーボードの層とラナ・レーンの澄んだ歌声を軸に、幻想的なプログレッシヴ・ロックを組み立てた第2作だ。曲は長い展開を持ちながら、旋律が常に物語の中心を保っている。デビュー作の路線を、より壮大で緻密な形へと発展させた一枚である。 “Curious Goods Part One”“Emerald City”“Escher's Staircase”といった楽曲では、エレクトロニックな質感、シンフォニックな広がり、ハード・ロックの推進力が一枚の中で滑らかにつながっている。“Reverie”“Satyr's Moon”“Symphony Of Angels”のような楽曲にも、作品の充実した表現が息づいている。“Heart Of Dawn”“Voices”“Clouds”のような楽曲にも、作品の充実した表現が息づいている。本作は特に日本で高い評価を受けラナ・レーンは日本のプログレッシヴ・ロック・ファンから熱烈に支持されるようになり、壮大な組曲的構成と親しみやすい歌メロが見事に融合した、初期の代表作の一つに数えられる一枚だ。音の景色に身を預けながら、歌とメロディの強さも味わえる。ラナ・レーンとエリク・ノーランダーの世界観が、さらに深まった充実作である。

Curious Goods is the second album on which, centered on heavy keyboard layers and Lana Lane’s clear voice, a fantastical progressive rock is built. While the songs have long developments, the melody always keeps the center of the story. It is a record that developed the debut’s direction into a grander, more intricate form. On “Curious Goods Part One,” “Emerald City” and “Escher's Staircase,” electronic texture, symphonic breadth and hard-rock drive connect smoothly within one record. Songs like “Reverie,” “Satyr's Moon” and “Symphony Of Angels” breathe the work’s full expression too. While surrendering to the sonic scenery, you can also savor the strength of the singing and melody. It is a full work in which Lana Lane and Erik Norlander’s worldview deepened further.
