『See You on the Other Side』は、KORNが、低くうねる重いギター、打ち込みを思わせるリズム、そして、ジョナサン・デイヴィスの不安定な歌を組み合わせた、充実の作品だ。創設ギタリストであった、ブライアン・"ヘッド"・ウェルチが脱退した後、制作された、初のアルバムにあたる。ヘヴィネスを、しっかりと保ちながらも、楽曲は、より簡潔で、覚えやすいフックの明確な方向へと、力強く進んでいる。プロデューサー陣の起用により、電子的な要素が、より前面に出た一枚である。 冒頭を飾る、キャッチーな人気曲“Twisted Transistor”の力強さ、そして、印象的な“Coming Undone”、さらに“Politics”のような曲まで、収録曲は、いずれも聴き応えがある。“Hypocrites”、そして“Love Song”のような曲も、作品の充実を伝えている。とりわけ“Twisted Transistor”と“Coming Undone”は、この時期を代表する人気曲となった。 電子音の、あの冷たさと、人間的な深い痛みとが、激しくぶつかり合い、アルバムに、独特の、確かな緊張を与えている一枚だ。中心メンバーの脱退という、大きな転換期にありながらも、KORNが、自らの、あの暗い個性を、別の新しい音像で、力強く更新してみせている。新体制での、確かな一歩を刻んだ、力強く聴き応えのある一枚と言える。バンドの新たな挑戦が光る一枚だ。

See You on the Other Side is a fulfilling work on which Korn combines low, undulating heavy guitar, programmed-sounding rhythm and Jonathan Davis’s unstable singing. It is the first album made after the departure of the founding guitarist Brian “Head” Welch. While firmly keeping heaviness, the songs move powerfully toward a more concise direction with clear, memorable hooks. With the use of the producers, a record on which electronic elements come more to the fore. From the power of the catchy popular opener “Twisted Transistor” and the striking “Coming Undone” to a cut like “Politics,” every song is engaging, while cuts like “Hypocrites” and “Love Song” convey the work’s fullness.
