Liner Notes
See You on the Other Side is a fulfilling work on which Korn combines low, undulating heavy guitar, programmed-sounding rhythm and Jonathan Davis’s unstable singing. It is the first album made after the departure of the founding guitarist Brian “Head” Welch. While firmly keeping heaviness, the songs move powerfully toward a more concise direction with clear, memorable hooks. With the use of the producers, a record on which electronic elements come more to the fore.
From the power of the catchy popular opener “Twisted Transistor” and the striking “Coming Undone” to a cut like “Politics,” every song is engaging, while cuts like “Hypocrites” and “Love Song” convey the work’s fullness. In particular, “Twisted Transistor” and “Coming Undone” became popular songs representing this period. A record on which the coldness of electronic sound and deep human pain collide fiercely, giving the album a distinctive, sure tension. A record on which, even in the great turning point of a central member’s departure, Korn powerfully updated its dark character with a new sound. A powerful, engaging record that inscribed a sure step in the new lineup — a record where the band’s new challenge shines.
