『Disarm the Descent』は、鋭いメタルコアのリフと大きな歌メロで、KILLSWITCH ENGAGEの核を再び鮮明に打ち出した第6作だ。2012年にハワード・ジョーンズが体調不良で脱退した後、2002年以来となるジェシー・リーチの復帰作として制作された。バンド史上最も速く攻撃的な一枚とも評され、ブラストビートを多用したスピード感が全編を貫いている。リーチの復帰は、『Alive or Just Breathing』の10周年にあたる2012年に発表され、大きな話題を呼んだ。 先行シングル“In Due Time”は、グラミー賞の最優秀メタル・パフォーマンス部門にノミネートされた。冒頭の“The Hell in Me”から、“The New Awakening”まで、疾走感とメロディを両立した楽曲が並ぶ。復帰したリーチの気迫あふれるヴォーカルが、バンドに再びエネルギーを吹き込んでいる。全米ビルボード200で7位、ハードロック・チャートで1位を記録した、力強い再生の一枚である。プロデュースは再びアダム・Dが手掛け、ドラマーのジャスティン・フォーリーもこれまで以上に激しいプレイを聴かせている。

Disarm the Descent is Killswitch Engage's sixth album, on which they once again vividly asserted their core with sharp metalcore riffs and big vocal melodies. After Howard Jones left in 2012 due to illness, it was made as the return album for Jesse Leach, his first since 2002. Praised as the fastest, most aggressive record in the band's history, a sense of speed with frequent blast beats runs throughout. Leach's return was announced in 2012, on the tenth anniversary of Alive or Just Breathing, to great excitement. The lead single "In Due Time" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. From the opener "The Hell in Me" to "The New Awakening," songs that balance drive and melody line up. The returning Leach's spirited vocals breathe energy back into the band. A powerful rebirth that reached No. 7 on the US Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Hard Rock chart. Adam D again handled production, and drummer Justin Foley delivers even more ferocious playing than before.
