Another Hostile Takeover

『Another Hostile Takeover』は、荒々しいロックンロールと華やかなフックを鳴らし、HANOI ROCKSが不変の危険な魅力を示した復活期の一作だ。ELECTRIC BOYS出身のコニー・ブルーム（ギター）とアンディ・クリステル（ベース）が加入し、バンドのサウンドに新たな厚みを加えている。プロデュースは引き続き「The Muddy Twins」が手掛けた。レコーディングの初期段階ではベーシストとギタリストが不在で、モンローが自らベースやギター、ドラムまで多くのパートを演奏した。その後、ブルームとクリステルが正式に加わっている。 “Back in Yer Face”“Better High”“Center of My Universe”など、多彩な楽曲が並ぶ。レゲエ調の曲や短いインタールードを織り込むなど、実験的で幅広い作風が特徴だ。この挑戦的な姿勢は批評家から高く評価された一方、往年のファンの間では賛否も分かれた。定型に収まらない、バンドの旺盛な創作意欲を刻んだ一枚である。本作は再結成期の第2作にあたり、2005年から2006年にかけてバンドはヨーロッパやアジアをツアーした。

Another Hostile Takeover is a record from Hanoi Rocks' revival period, on which they showed their unchanging dangerous appeal with raw rock'n'roll and flamboyant hooks. Conny Bloom (guitar) and Andy Christell (bass), both formerly of the Electric Boys, joined, adding new depth to the band's sound. Production was again handled by "The Muddy Twins." In the early stages of recording there was no bassist or guitarist, so Monroe played many of the parts himself, including bass, guitar and drums. Bloom and Christell then officially joined. Varied songs like "Back in Yer Face," "Better High" and "Center of My Universe" line up. It is marked by an experimental, wide-ranging style, weaving in reggae-flavored songs and short interludes. This daring stance was highly praised by critics, while opinion among longtime fans was divided. A record carving the band's vigorous creative drive, refusing to fit a fixed mold. It is the second album of the reunion period, and the band toured Europe and Asia in 2005 and 2006.
