Magma keeps Gojira’s massive riffs and unusual rhythmic identity while moving into quieter, more inward-looking territory. Low guitars gather pressure through repetition, the drums leave deliberate breathing room, and the vocal performance is powerful not only in eruptions but also in restrained phrases and lingering aftertones. Weight and stillness, anger and loss, sit in the same frame. The record does not reduce impact; it chooses sounds more carefully so the emotional outline becomes sharper. Repeating riffs feel hypnotic, but accents and tonal shifts prevent stasis. Moments of withdrawal, rhythm-led movement and expanding melody appear in sequence, asking the listener to follow an emotional current rather than simply a display of force. Turn it up for the low-end movement, rough guitar texture and the placement of every drum hit. Magma is a heavy record whose silence matters as much as its attack.
