『No World Order』は、GAMMA RAYの持ち味である疾走感、明快なメロディ、力強いコーラスを、高い密度でまとめた第7作だ。カイ・ハンセンの声とギターは、曲を前へ引っ張りながらも軽快さを失わない。よりモダンで攻撃的なプロダクションを取り入れ、バンドは新たな力強さを獲得している。 “Induction”“Dethrone Tyranny”“Heaven or Hell”“Damn the Machine”といった楽曲では、スピード・メタルの推進力とアンセミックな歌心が見事に噛み合っている。“The Heart of the Unicorn”“Eagle”のような楽曲にも、バンドの多彩な表現力が息づいている。“Solid”“Fire Below”“Follow Me”“Lake of Tears”といった楽曲にも、力強い演奏と叙情が同居している。2000年代に入りバンドはよりヘヴィでモダンなサウンドを取り入れ、重厚なテーマ性と疾走するパワー・メタルの高揚感が交錯する本作からは、ハンセンの作曲術の円熟が全編を通して感じられる。重めのテーマを扱いながらも、音楽は暗闇に沈み切ることなく、常に高揚感を保っている。速さと重さ、そして歌の強さが理想的に結び付いた、力強い一枚である。

No World Order is the seventh album on which GAMMA RAY brought together its signature drive, clear melody and powerful choruses at high density. Kai Hansen’s voice and guitar pull the songs forward without losing lightness. Taking in a more modern, aggressive production, the band gained a new power. On “Induction,” “Dethrone Tyranny,” “Heaven or Hell” and “Damn the Machine,” the drive of speed metal and anthemic melodic sense mesh splendidly. Songs like “The Heart of the Unicorn” and “Eagle” breathe the band’s varied expressiveness too. Even while handling heavier themes, the music never sinks fully into darkness, always keeping elation. It is a powerful record on which speed, weight and vocal strength join ideally.
