『Rocket Ride』は、EDGUYが疾走するパワー・メタルの基盤を保ちながら、グラム／ハード・ロックの華やかさとユーモアを大きく取り入れた作品だ。トビアス・サメットの伸びやかな歌、分厚いギター、覚えやすいコーラスが、曲ごとに明るい推進力を作り出している。バンドがより肩の力を抜いた、ロックンロール色の強い一枚である。 “Sacrifice”“Rocket Ride”“Superheroes”“Trinidad”といった楽曲では、スピード感のある曲とミドルテンポのアンセムが自然に並び、技巧だけでなく聴き手を巻き込む楽しさを重視している。壮大な大作“Land of the Miracle”も、アルバムに深みを与えている。“Catch of the Century”“Save Me”のような楽曲にも、バンドの充実したメロディ・センスが息づいている。“The Asylum”“Return to the Tribe”“Matrix”のような楽曲にも、バンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。本作ではより直接的でロックンロール然としたアプローチが目立ちパワー・メタルの枠にとらわれない自由さがある、遊び心と実力が両立した円熟期の充実作だ。EDGUYらしい大仰さを軽快なロックンロールへと結び付けた、開放感のある充実作だ。

Rocket Ride is a work on which EDGUY, while keeping the base of driving power metal, greatly took in the flair and humor of glam/hard rock. Tobias Sammet’s soaring singing, thick guitar and memorable choruses create a bright drive in each song. It is a record with a strong rock ’n’ roll color, on which the band relaxed further. On “Sacrifice,” “Rocket Ride,” “Superheroes” and “Trinidad,” speedy songs and mid-tempo anthems line up naturally, valuing not just technique but the fun that draws the listener in. The grand epic “Land of the Miracle” also gives the album depth. Songs like “Catch of the Century” and “Save Me” breathe the band’s full melodic sense too. Binding EDGUY’s characteristic grandeur to light rock ’n’ roll, it is a full work with a sense of openness.
