The Great Momentum

『The Great Momentum』は、EDENBRIDGEがシンフォニック・メタルの壮麗さと、硬いギター・リフの推進力を丁寧に重ねた第9作だ。ランヴァル(ギター、キーボード)とサビーネ・エデルスバッハー(ヴォーカル)を中心に制作され、ナパーム・レコードからリリースされた。澄んだヴォーカル、オーケストラ風の鍵盤、複数のメロディが広がり、音楽は幻想的でありながら芯を失わない。 “Shiantara”“The Moment Is Now”では、澄んだ歌声と重厚なギターが一体となる。長い曲では展開の多さを、短い曲ではフックの強さを生かし、全体に物語性がある。過剰に装飾するだけではなく、曲の感情を大きく見せるためにシンフォニックな要素を用いているのが特徴だ。“Until the End of Time”“The Greatest Gift of All”のような楽曲では、疾走するリズムと荘厳なメロディが交錯する。各パートは単独で主張するためではなく、次のメロディや感情の高まりを強く聞かせるために置かれている。優美さとヘヴィネスの両方を求める人に応える本作は、円熟期EDENBRIDGEの手腕を鮮やかに示す一枚である。

The Great Momentum is the ninth album, on which Edenbridge carefully layered the grandeur of symphonic metal with the drive of hard guitar riffs. It was made centered on Lanvall (guitar, keyboards) and Sabine Edelsbacher (vocals), and released on Napalm Records. Clear vocals, orchestral keyboards and multiple melodies spread out, and the music is fantastical yet does not lose its core. On "Shiantara" and "The Moment Is Now," clear vocals and weighty guitar unite. Long songs use the abundance of development and short songs the strength of the hooks, giving the whole a storytelling quality. Rather than merely ornamenting, it uses symphonic elements to make the songs' emotion large. Answering those who want both grace and heaviness, the album vividly shows the skill of Edenbridge in its mature period.
