Aphelion is a work on which EDENBRIDGE layered clear vocals, glittering keyboards and weighty guitar to balance grace and strength. The songs open from quiet scenes into big choruses, developing while keeping a fantastical air. It is a record that brought the style cultivated up to the previous album to fruition with a firmer feel. On “The Undiscovered Land,” “Skyward,” “The Final Curtain” and “Perennial Dreams,” there is accessible melody even within the orchestral expanse. Songs like “Fly at Higher Game” and “On the Verge of Infinity” breathe the band’s rich expressiveness too. The distance between grand ornament and human emotion is pleasant, and the work shows a warm, rich expression.
