Shine is a work on which EDENBRIDGE layered clear vocals, glittering keyboards and weighty guitar to build a fantastical soundscape. The songs open from quiet introductions into big choruses, conveying grace and metal strength at once. While having an orchestral expanse, at the center there is always accessible melody. On “Shine,” “Centennial Legend,” “The Canterville Ghost” and “October Sky,” symphonic flair and firm melodic sense join. Songs like “Wild Chase,” “And the Road Goes On” and “Anthem” breathe the band’s rich melodic sense too. While having an orchestral expanse, at its center a beautiful melody is always set. Shaping symphonic metal’s flair with soft yet firm-cored playing, it is a rewarding record conveying the band’s fullness.
