Wired

『Wired』は、パンデミック下の2021年後半にリリースされた、ECLIPSEの第8作だ。前作『Paradigm』で掴んだ勢いをそのまま受け継ぎ、硬質なリフと即効性の高いサビを連発する、現代的でエネルギッシュなメロディック・ロックを鳴らしている。ドラムのフィリップ・クルスナー、ベースにヴィクトル・クルスナー兄弟を擁する布陣が固まり、バンドの一体感がさらに増した一枚である。本作もエリック・マーテンソン自身がプロデュース、ミックス、マスタリングまでを一手に手掛けている。 先行シングル“Saturday Night (Hallelujah)”は、コロナ禍を経た解放感を歌い上げるパーティ・アンセムとして、本作を象徴する代表曲だ。“Roses on Your Grave”の疾走感、“Twilight”のメロディックな陰影、“Bite the Bullet”のドラマ性まで、緩急に富んだ楽曲が隙なく並ぶ。エリック・マーテンソンの伸びやかな歌唱と、マグヌス・ヘンリクソンの鋭いギターが全編を牽引し、困難な時期にあっても衰えぬ創作意欲を鮮やかに証明した。前作に続く快進撃を確固たるものにした、充実作である。

Wired is Eclipse's eighth album, released in late 2021 amid the pandemic. Carrying the momentum of the previous Paradigm straight through, it plays modern, energetic melodic rock that fires off hard riffs and immediate choruses. With drummer Philip Crusner and his brother, bassist Victor Crusner, the lineup solidified, and the band's cohesion grew still greater. As with their other records, Erik Mårtensson himself handled production, mixing and mastering. The lead single "Saturday Night (Hallelujah)," a party anthem singing of the release felt after the pandemic, is a signature song symbolizing the album. From the drive of "Roses on Your Grave" and the melodic shadow of "Twilight" to the drama of "Bite the Bullet," songs full of shifting dynamics line up without a gap. Erik Mårtensson's soaring singing and Magnus Henriksson's sharp guitar drive the whole record, vividly proving a creative drive undimmed even in a difficult period. It is an accomplished work that cemented the surge continuing from the previous album.
