『Alter Echo』は、2020年3月に出た第4作で、デンマークのチャートで2位に入った。前作から4年、彼らはもう復活バンドではなく、現役として書いている。90年代のグランジ寄りの手触りは意識的に脇へ置かれ、代わりに現れたのはプログレッシヴな傾きを持つオルタナティヴ・ハード・ロックだった。ティム・クリステンセンの歌とギターは重いリフと繊細な旋律を往復し、アルバム後半には組曲的な流れも置かれる。 評価は明確な形で返ってきた。翌2021年、本作はGAFFA賞のデンマーク年間ロック・アルバムを獲り、クリステンセン個人も年間ソングライターに選ばれている。解散から22年、再稼働から6年での受賞である。2022年には器楽のみのヴァージョンも出た。複雑さが自己目的にならず、メロディの芯が最後まで残るのがこのバンドの一貫した美点で、それは1994年から変わっていない。

Alter Echo, released in March 2020, is the fourth album and reached number two in Denmark. Four years on from the last one, they were no longer a comeback band but a working one. The grunge-adjacent feel of the 1990s was deliberately set aside, and what came instead was alternative hard rock with progressive leanings. Tim Christensen's voice and guitar move between heavy riffing and fine melodic writing, and the back half of the record runs as something close to a suite. The verdict came back in a concrete form. In 2021 it took the GAFFA Award for Danish rock album of the year, and Christensen himself was named songwriter of the year — twenty-two years after the break-up and six after the re-activation. An instrumental version of the album followed in 2022. Complexity never becomes the point, and the melody holds all the way through; that has been consistent since 1994.
