The Unattractive Revolution

『The Unattractive Revolution』は、CRASHDIETが太いリフ、派手なコーラス、ダークなムードを組み合わせた第2作だ。デイヴ・レパードを失った後、残る3人は一度は継続を断念したが、世界中のファンからの反応とレパードの家族の理解を得て、バンド名を守ることを決めた。2007年1月、フィンランド出身のH.オリヴァー・ツイステッド(レックレス・ラヴ)を新たな歌い手に迎え、同年10月にユニヴァーサルから本作を発表している。バンド名を継ぐ意味を、音そのもので証明する必要があった一枚である。 バンドの核にある80年代的な華やかさは残しつつ、演奏にはより重い緊張と切迫感が加わっている。冒頭のシングル“In the Raw”や“Falling Rain”で見せるフックの強さは健在で、全体には再出発の強い意志が流れる。“I Don't Care”と“Alone”ではモトリー・クルーのミック・マーズがリード・ギターで参加した。パトリック・フリスクのプロデュースで、本国チャート11位を記録。ハードコア・スーパースターの前座も務めたが、ツイステッドは翌年に去ることになる。悲劇を乗り越えながら、バンドの輪郭をより硬くした一枚である。

The Unattractive Revolution is the second album, combining thick riffs, flashy choruses and a dark mood. After losing Dave Lepard, the remaining three initially decided they couldn't continue, but with the response from fans worldwide and the understanding of Lepard's family they resolved to keep the name alive. In January 2007 they brought in Finland's H. Olliver Twisted (Reckless Love) as their new singer, and released this album on Universal that October. It's a record that had to prove, in sound itself, what carrying the name meant. The 1980s flash at the band's core remains, but heavier tension and urgency enter the playing. The strength of the hooks on the opening single “In the Raw” and “Falling Rain” is intact, and a strong will to restart runs through the whole. Mötley Crüe's Mick Mars plays lead guitar on “I Don't Care” and “Alone.” Produced by Patrik Frisk, it reached No. 11 at home. They also opened for Hardcore Superstar, but Twisted would leave the following year. A record that hardened the band's outline while getting past tragedy.
